The coaches challenge episode is what I love the most in the TUF seasons. So much fun.

Keep Up To Date
Check out two of our guys at BRACE in Sydney. Reza Almasi and Dimi Dimitrovski.
There was a competition on the weekend in Liverpool, Sydney. ISKA. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Combat Grappling. There was a GOLD in the open weight purple belt by one of the head coaches Stephen and a SILVER in one of the blue belt weight classes by Jamie in the BJJ. There was also a win in the combat grappling by Andrew. (have to forgive the photos. they were taken on a phone and I usually take the photos but did not get up for this comp.)

Good Idea?
I am still wondering whether or not my concept is a good one. There is definitely a market out there. Maybe not a huge market in Canberra but that's ok. For the most part this is about Legion XIII but there is other information in here too. It is a place where people can come and check out bits and pieces about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA. People that train but aren't in Canberra can check out our page and see that if they ever come to Canberra, or Perth or even Melbourne, there is a place to train. A good place that is fun and welcoming, with a pretty decent pool of talent and skill.
So while there is a huge market already in the US/Canada and Brazil and Russia (wrestling), the fan base is spreading to the UK, Japan and definitely Australia. I think if you are a growing your interest in this sport check out Keenan Cornelius, Kron Gracie, Marcelo Garcia, Ryan Hall, Leticia Ribeiro and Kyra Gracie. If you are wanting more MMA definitely watch The Ultimate Fighter. Some interesting fights and seeing the guys train. The current season is Canada v Australia and TUF 3 Brazil. Coming up is The Ultimate Fighter 19 with BJ Penn and Frankie Edgar. Oh one more thing... get your hooks into (see what i did there?) Dream, Pride FC and UFC 1 and 2. (definitely watch as many Fedor Emelianenko fights as you can)

Class Times
If there is anything anyone wants to know or ask please don't hesitate.
Here is a timetable of the classes that we run. As you can see there is a nice mix of BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), and wrestling. During open mats there is also a chance to do a little bit of judo. Judo is a great help when it comes to competing in either BJJ and MMA. In BJJ comps most people, especially white and blue belts, don't seem to know how to take down their opponent and just jump into guard, which gives up a good position. Wrestling is also helpful when it comes to take downs (judo is more for throws). BJJ is pretty much ground stuff, most drills start from kneeling position anyway, unless you are going for a flying arm bar or triangle haha.

Books To Check Out
There are some really good books around that break down each move in an easy to understand format.
The X-Guard : Gi and No Gi Jiu Jitsu by Marcelo Gracie
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu : theory and technique by Renzo Gracie and Royler Gracie
Training For Warriors by Martin Rooney
Jiu Jitsu University by Saulo Ribeiro
in case you weren't aware side note :
Renzo and Royler are pronounced Henzo and Hoyler. Capital "r" in Brazil (portuegese). So Saulo Ribeiro is pronounced Saulo Hibeiro.

A Few More Bits And Pieces
there are just some other sites i would like to reference. There is so much information about learning and showing love for this sport. i think people really need to see this sport in a new light. it is not something stupid (grown men cuddling each other), people often calling it gay and dangerous. They need to understand that this is a beautiful, tough martial art that is used for competition only but can be used to defend one's self. More and more people are getting involved from kids right up to adults in their 50's.

Design and Elements
I don't want the site to be too packed. I want it simple and easy to understand.
A gallery
about the coaches
affiliations (other gyms and seminars)
videos
info about the club and the sport
what the club has to offer
where to find us including social media links
it will be a very basic colour scheme of black, white, red, grey. I am not quite going back to the basic "make it big, make it black white red, you can't go wrong" type thing. I chose these colours because they are the colours of the club and also make everything look a little classier/smarter.
because it is simple in design everything has to be well orginised and laid out.
Coaches
BLACK BELT Adam Saunderson
PURPLE BELT Stephen Owens
Affiliations
Peter De Been
Legion 13 Perth
Stockade Training Center
Seminars Featured
Legion 13 Perth BLACK BELT Andrew Leggett
MMA Bellator fighter, and Phuket Top Team Trainer Anthony Leone

Website
I built a website. And a phone app. I have to say that I am pretty happy with the result. There is still a little work to do, especially with the gallery. But other than that, I am actually surprisingly happy

A Bit Behind
It is more difficult than i thought to find web stats.
The websites i am looking at are the Canberra competition.
-Hills Sports Academy
hillsportsacademy.com
-Phoenix Gym
phoenixgym.com.au
-Elements Fitness
elementsfitnessact.com.au
-Epic
www.epicbjj.com.au
-Roots
turnbullacademy.com
-Dark Carnival
http://www.dark-carnival.com.au/
While there may seem like there is not much competition in Canberra, it is a small place so the market pool here is not as big as say Melbourne, Sydney or even Brisbane. It is not enough alone that the students and Instructors are first class and seen as the best in Canberra, there has to be great information about the club. something asthetically pleasing.
Where is the first place people go to find out information? The internet. We need a site that looks good and draws them in.

Information
There is a lot of information out there about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Of course most people go to pages like Wikipedia, but if want to know where this martial art started go to
http://www.gracieacademy.com/
It tells you almost everything you need to know. There is history of the family, schools, what Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is about and what it means to the Gracie Family, who were founders of the sport.
Of course there is more than just the Gracie Academy site.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_jiu-jitsu
Most club sites will have a bit about the sport, whether it is just explaining what it is, the history, or what they feel BJJ is to them.

Choosing a site concept
I have to try and think of a site concept apparently. I would really actually like to do a site for my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club. So what I am going to research is other club sites, national and international, and some other websites that are about sports. The way they show information, pictures etc.
I hope this works out.
