Back In The Game

I forgot how hard it is getting back into the swing of training. Still haven't gotten to going 3 times a week, but next week I will start. I always forget how good and energised I feel after each training.

People at Legion are training hard. Some are off to Phuket Top Team (random note, blogger doesn't think Phuket is a proper word and wants to change it to ketchup! wtf) to train with Olavo Abreu and the Leone Brothers and more great world class MMA and BJJ guys/girls. In about 3 weeks time there is National Championships on in Newcastle, Australia. Should be a pretty good turn out. Hopefully there will be some great BLACK BELT matches to watch, there always are.
There is a local Canberra comp coming up also.

Great opportunity for people to see what is out there, see the competition from other clubs etc.

Sad news for UFC and MMA fans today. Chael Sonnen retires after failing a random drug test that puts him out of the The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3 Grand Final (Wanderlei Silva was also already out, also having failed a drug testing.) In Sonnen's case it seems that the medication he has to take for his health has something in it that means he fails the testing. He is making a choice of health and well being over his fighting career. A good choice I say.

Canberra Girls

So it's been decided that we are starting a group for Canberra Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Girls. There aren't a lot of girls in Canberra at each club so we want to try get us together at least once a week to train and get to know each other and hopefully try find other girls to join in. It really is a great sport and lots of fun. We want to show this to other people. We also want to show girls places where it is safe and comfortable with other girls and if during the week they would like to train then come train with great higher grades and guys that are going to be friendly nice. It occurs to me that people travel for their jobs and that guys might be more comfortable just popping into any club, girls may not be, so this gives them places.

Tell your friends and family. Share the news around. GIRLS THERE ARE PLACES IN CANBERRA TO TRAIN! YAY

Also, this was for a uni project but if there is enough interest and you guys let me know I will keep up with it and let you know events going on, national and international, history about BJJ and MMA, more fighters profiles and anything else you guys ask for. So holla at me ;)
